We have had a case where we were scheduled to complete a major design review in our site office and our internet went down. Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering were all present (including some who flew in from out of town) for the review. If we had planned on a cloud based model review, then we could not have completed the review at that time. Fortunately, we were using Navigator and could complete the review. The only problem was that individuals that had joined via phone could not see the model as we were flying through it. Does the iTwin Design Review have an offline based application to perform all the same tasks as the cloud based version (as I understand that Navigator has been deprecated)? I strongly suggest that Bentley have an offline version that has all the same features and that can synchronize to the cloud when a connection is available. I'm not sure why Navigator is not being continued but something needs to replace it if that is the case.
To Corey Johnson...what is Bentley's end game here? it sounds like Bentley is marketing two products (iTwin Design Review and SYNCHRO Field) for the same thing. EPCs will only want to use one tool for all phases of a project. If SYNCHRO Field provides all the same design review functionality as iTwin and then some, why would folks use iTwin? Or perhaps a better question is, is the intent of Bentley to keep certain key functions required by all companies to each product (iTwin - Clash Management, online collaboration...SYNCHRO - offline model reviews) to force companies to use two products? I know this is blunt, but as a systems guy trying to get my set-in-its-ways EPC to adopt new technologies, this put me in a very difficult position...
As mentioned in previous comments, Navigator was a mobile solution that allowed for offline review. SYNCHRO Field is the replacement for Navigator Mobile, and it allows for 2D/3D/4D Review, handles forms and statusing while offline and will sync when an internet connection is established. Would this work to alleviate some of the concerns?
we have a similar situation with no wifi on site so the model iTwin can not be used. It is available in revizto so can not see why it can not be done iTwin
.
Is it possible to have offline versions available? Other similar tools like AutoDesk products have this feature built in and my clients keep asking when will this ability be available. Many of these people are on planes or in no-wifi areas of sites and have no ability to view the model. These clients are starting to ask for us to use Autodesk products because it is much more advance for the current features of iTwin. Please look into this feature.
Most design review, BIM and doc management systems (cloud based and otherwise) have this functionality. Having this would bring iTwin up to par with the other systems out there.
Same here. The model went down in a middle of a presentation and the team lost some trust in imodelhub. We understand the model is processed in the cloud, but we need an alternative for this kind of issue or people won't be able to rely on this platform.
